I am a constant worrier.
When I became a mom, that worry feeling was enhanced.
Enzo started daycare Mar 2022, after searching & messaging daycares, we finally got him into one.
The 2nd week of daycare, Enzo got hand, foot, mouth disease.
I don't know anything about this, heck, I feel like I don't know anything about a lot of things.
I researched, I looked up forums & googled anything that I could find about this "disease."
Most websites said to let it run its course, of course, that's too easy for us.
Because Enzo has eczema, & because he scratches to soothe himself, this "disease " had spread.
We were advised to go to the ED at 0330 by an advice nurse.
0400, Sunday, daylight savings has begun.
We proceeded to Radys ED, 5 hours later, we were sent home with eczema coxsackium, he was placed on an antiviral & an antibiotic.
Generally Enzo is a happy child, with him feeling ill, it was a 180.
He was needy, clingy, had no appetite, & constantly whining.
I was FURIOUS!
How could this have happened, is this facility dirty? Is it not sanitary? Did we get in because it was not a safe place to bring a child to?
An antiviral, antibiotic, an antimicrobial, & 4 days later, he is finally doing better, THANK GOODNESS.
7 days of his medication, he had a late adverse reaction causing redness to his cheeks...
Again, FURIOUS.
I even googled how to report a day care to public health.
A couple days at home & doses of zyrtec later, my baby was looking normal.
I wish I can stay home with him, but also, it's good for me to be at work. I have a lot of respect for stay at home moms.
